Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard; parents, James & Helen Smythe; brother, Paul Smythe; and sisters, Alice Rhodes & Mary Smythe. Survived by daughters, Adria (Larry) Smentek & Helen C. Waldock; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kirstin) Smentek, Joseph (Katie) Smentek, Amy (Matt) Klein, Jedediah Smentek, Patrick Kaluza & Cody Kaluza; great-grandchildren, Liam, Logan & Kellan Smentek, Nora & Henry Smentek and Zoey & Alexis Klein; sister, Jane Salfen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. Helen was a cosmetologist for many years both in St. Louis, MO & in St. Paul. She was a former employee of the Minnesota State Department of Taxation, retiring after 15 years of service. She was an active & faithful member of the Church of St. Patrick in Inver Grove Heights teaching CCD for many years. Her true love was her family, spending as much time with them after her retirement as possible. She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and spoke about them often. She enjoyed family picnics, reading and her dog “Misty”. Funeral InformationMass of Christian Burial 10 AM Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the CHURCH OF ST. PATRICK, 3535 East 72nd Street @ Clayton in Inver Grove Heights. Visitations Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and Wednesday 1 hour prior to Mass ALL AT CHURCH. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
