Preceded in death by beloved son, Robert; 6 brothers; and 1 sister. Survived by loving wife of 59 years, Florence 'Babe'; daughters, Barbara (Frank) Partyka, Chris, Missy, & Niki (Kurt) Ronquist; Catherine (Tom) McCoy, Logan & Mitchell; Patricia (Bill) Leko, Sarah & Matt (Shanda); Rita (Rod) Alston, Tony & Alycia; Mary (John) Stemper, Rachel & Lauren; son, Robert's children, Bryan & Michelle Clancy; great grandchildren, Ashley Clancy & Riley Ronquist; sister, Mary Gettler. Bob joined the U.S. Navy in 1940, before Pearl Harbor. Bob was assigned to the Carrier Lexington. On May 8, 1942, the Carrier was hit and the crew had to abandon ship. Hours later, survivors were rescued. He served on many other carriers in WWII and the Korean War. Bob loved the Navy and served 23 years, retiring as a Master Chief. He later worked at the St. Paul Post Office, soon becoming a supervisor. He retired in 1978 and took time to fish, do wood-working, read, and watch and enjoy his family. Bob was my mate for almost 60 years. I'll love you forever! - Babe. Funeral InformationMass of Christian Burial Friday 12 noon at the CHURCH OF ST. MATTHEW, 507 Hall Ave. @ Robie, St. Paul. Visitation Thursday 4-8PM at WEST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 S. Robert St. @ Arion, W. St. Paul, and Friday 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
