Guiding our community through the sharing of life's experiences

Bettye M. Hergott

May 14, 1932 - September 29, 2003

Of Burnsville Age 71

Died peacefully on September 29, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer, in her home, surrounded by her children. Survived by her children, Cherlynn Nelson, Cynthia (Mark) Ritchie, Michelle Bradford, Brian (Pam), Rhonda (Gary) Welp, Jackie (Terry) Slinger, and Mary (Mitch) Leintz; 15 grandchildren; sisters, Joanne (Roger) Dircks, Karen Harkins; brothers, Peter Karst and Robert (Cheryl) Karst; and many close family friends.

She was a bright, warm, courageous and loving woman who was loved and respected by all who knew her. She taught her children the importance of family. She taught us how to love, to learn, to listen and care for others, to laugh, and how to let go. Her courage, compassion, perseverance and deep faith were an example and a gift to all who knew her. Over 40 years ago as a young woman she started her own business and was a pioneer for all women who came after her. She was a highly successful businesswoman who established, owned and operated Tracers Inc. with her children until her retirement in 2001. Even though she thought she was retired, she continued to give her support and guidance to this work she loved. Bettye loved life and a lively discussion (right up to the end) of faith, politics and life! Her love of life, joy, laughter and family was her legacy to us, and we will miss her deeply. A special thanks to Dr. Karl Parens and all others who cared for her during this journey.
