William A. GallagherJuly 07, 1923 - March 26, 2008 Beloved Husband, Dad, and Grandpa
Age 84 of South St. Paul. Passed away peacefully on March 26, 2008 after a courageous battle with lung disease. Bill proudly served his country in the South Pacific during WWII with the US Army. He was a lifelong resident of South St. Paul and a graduate of SSP High School, went to college at the University of St. Thomas and graduated from North Dakota State. Bill had a passion for athletics, playing basketball, semi-pro baseball, and golf. He was inducted into the Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2001. Bill worked at the SSP Stockyards for 35 years as a Cattle Buyer and spent his retirement years working at the Mendota Heights Par-3 Golf Course. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Catherine; children, Mark (Kristin), Maureen (Mark) Mikel, Mary, Jeff (Stephanie); grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Kevin, Shannon, Ryan, Stacy, and Erik; brother, Don of Arizona; and many dear family and friends.
